So word on the street is that CJ Spa in Hermosa is "Closed for Renovations"... I'm not sure how long, or what they're doing.
Hopefully they're making some improvements... I've been less enthusiastic about them lately, as there are better spas in Koreatown for cheaper, and it's hard to get to unless you're already in the South Bay, and the one-towel thing that's been going on, etc.
Anyway, if anyone learns more, keep us posted!
I was told earlier that they were planning on fixing the ice room in December, that's been broken for a while.
ReplyDeleteRoyal Spa in Hacienda Hts just been renovated. Real nice with new chairs and snacks, coffee. But the entrance fees has gone up from $15 to $25! Worth going if you really want to relax in a nice kids-free environment.
ReplyDeleteRoyal is one of the next ones I want to check out
DeleteNow is the best time to try it out while it's still new. They have a $68
Delete90 minutes scrub and massage combo done by a male therapist. That include entrance fee and your best bet :)
Royal Spa is TINY. I've been here a a few occasions last year for a quick dip and I would never pay $25 for admission.
DeleteThe wet area is probably half the size of Natura (yes, it's that small) with one hot, warm and a cold plunge. 4 standup showers (1 separated from the rest) and 4 sit down. There is a small dry sauna and a steam sauna that is activated manually by a timer switch. Don't get too comfortable because the masseuse constantly patrols the area and will open the sauna doors in dramatic fashion trying to catch any type of activity, even if you are the sole patron there.
Outside the wet area there are reclining lounge chairs facing a wall mounted TV and a closet sized sleeping room. There is a ground level window looking into this room so that management can always monitor the patrons sleeping on the mat.
I'm curious about the so called changes/renovations made but as for the physical space available I can't justify the new entry price.
Any word on when they will reopen? I wanted to go this weekend.
DeleteNo idea. Try calling them and then let us know what they tell you.
Deleteword on the street is that CJ Hermosa has an eviction notice posted on their door. (if anyone's in the area, please stop by and confirm and maybe take a picture for the blog). so maybe this closure is permanent. given the quality of this spa, i can't say it's going to be a big loss.
ReplyDeleteNope, no eviction notice as of Dec. 11th.
DeleteI just called - the guy answered and said they're closed for "a couple of weeks for construction"...he simply answered the phone saying "Hello" so it's all a little mysterious. We shall see. If there is an eviction notice on the door it would be great to know.

Haha, that's so funny because I actually went by there earlier tonight and took a very similar photo of the same sign! I was actually just about to post it here when I got the notification that you posted. What a coincidence.
DeleteWow...we probably just missed each other!
DeleteI was there around 6:00.
Deletethanks SJ! love your blog. so meticulously photographed and put together.
DeleteI am starting to get the sense that this place may not be coming back...just an intuition.
ReplyDeleteI called the Northridge location to ask what the deal was with Hermosa Beach and the woman told me they closed that location. Oh well, I will miss it. Lots of fun memories. Where else to go in the south bay / west side???
ReplyDeleteAny updates on this? Is it gone forever?
