Century Spa update

I went to Century Spa on Friday night and I had a few comments:

- There are signs everywhere telling people to shower before entering the pools, and warning that anyone who doesn't will be kicked out. Which I agree with, but it still bugs me that they even have to put the signs up... I mean IT'S COMMON SENSE. That said, as I was leaving on Friday night I saw two guys come in and go straight for the tubs without showering first. Eww. Maybe they need a big sign right in front of the stairs to the tub.

- Also, a new sign stating that no smoking is allowed on the patio. Excellent! (For me at least. I guess it sucks if you're a nicotine addict)

- I met up with a couple of friends there and we ended up going upstairs to the restaurant to eat. It was my first time there, and it was pretty good. I also got a chance to check out the Jimjilbang. It seemed ok (and was absolutely deserted on Friday night) with like 5 saunas of varying temperatures. I still hate the idea of having to wear clothes and sweating in a sauna though.

- Back to the men's area, it felt like the temperatures were cranked up on several saunas: the marble sauna felt warmer (but I actually liked it), but both the mist sauna and steam room were way too hot. The steam room would have way too hot steam going for a while, then it would shut off and cool down (almost too much, and the steam would mostly dissipate) before turning back on. I've been to other spas that do a much better job at maintaining a constant temperature; I wish they'd do the same.

  1. The last time I was at Century two months ago a guy who was old enough to read walked in from the locker room, bypassed the showers and came and sat in the big jacuzzi. Since he had not been there earlier (I had been there an hour) there was no way he could have showered before joining us. Many got out and moved to other areas upon his arrival. The showers are FREE gentlemen (included with your admission) so take advantage. I'll even help you wash your back (and maybe your front)!
The "Marble Sauna" has never been remotely hot since it has a little service door in the ceiling that is frequently open letting the heat escape up into the rafters so maybe they finally figured out why it was never reaching the set temperature?
No smoking at a K Spa? Too American

  2. Here's the thing about showering before entering pools. Sometimes the guy may have already showered but stepped away before returning to pool again. This has happened to me several times. I shower but run back to the locker to retrieve something or check something then I go back to walk straight to the pools. Or I have to visit the men's bathroom ( but in case of a longer visit to restroom you know what I mean I head back to shower to wash my crack sorry for being crude) and go back to pool. I do though rinse my feet if I have to if I stepped somewhere without my sandals that is suspect for dirtiness or griminess.
Anyways it is a rule we all should follow through with our scouts honor but some people obviously don't have that scouts honor within them.

For some , their consideration and integrity can be sold cheaply for as little as a bit of convenience or laziness.

  3. the marble sauna was designed to be a cold sauna; not sure why they changed it. It's kind of worthless now.

  4. I was at Imperial Spa in Garden Grove this past friday (june 7. 2013) I had already been there a few hours so I was cooling by the cold pool when two asians walked in and went straight for the hot tub no shower I was glad I was done but that is the reason I rarely do the hot tubs!

  5. Bunch of creepers at Century yesterday. Right when I came in, a guy came to get something from the locker room and purposely waited to watch me undress. Then later, I was in the sleeping room, trying to sleep, turned on my side facing the wall. The third guy in the room left and the guy in the middle tried to grab my butt under my towel like he was trying to open his Christmas present! I told him, I don't think so and turned back around. He immediately tried again, to which I told him no and that he was being inappropriate. Anytime I saw either of these guys in a room they were trying to play with their dicks. If you're only going to a spa to get off, why not go somewhere in Hollywood where you can do that whenever you want?

    1. I would have reported the guy in the sleeping room. You made it clear you didn't want to play. I'm fine with consensual play but this guy crossed the line.

    2. I've heard that the staff at Century is beginning to crack down on activity. Apparently, they are closely monitoring any type of activity. Any truth?

    4. Wouldn't surprise me. A very small minority of guys there have been treating it like a sex club, and annoying a LOT of people. While I sometimes like the occasional messing around there, I tend to be discreet about it. These guys just do it openly and don't care who sees. They are ruining it for the rest of us.

I say it's about time they start cracking down.

  6. I have stopped going to century because to me it is almost a total bath house experience. Men following people around constantly tugging on themselves. Almost always there is multiple people openly jerking in the clay room. It is a beautiful venue but the relaxation factor is almost gone due to the cruising of every person there. I love to be naked and the discreet Jo with my bathe mates but century is to much.

Question: as anyone ever been arrested in a k spa. It is it they just get told to leave. ?

    1. I have heard that there's one in Irvine that has actually called the police. I haven't heard of any in LA that have, though. But it wouldn't surprise me if they had.

    2. The number of weirdos and overly aggressive patrons at this place has been steadily increasing over time. It almost negates the quality of the facilities on certain visits.

Guess all of the kspas have their upsides and downsides.

  7. According to Spa Junkies July 28, 2012 blog review of ISpa in Irvine the police were called. No way to verify so forewarned is forearmed.

I like Century since it is the largest with the most amenities but the "Creepy Cruisers" are ruining it for the rest of us.
Please visit one of the many LA bath houses if you need to do more than soak , steam and enjoy the scenery.
