Sweat Out The Old, Sweat In The New! 2017 Edition

As I've done a few times before, let's do a New Years Day spa meetup!

When: January 1, 11:00am until night time.
Where: Wilshire Spa (Note: according to some of the blog readers, the price is going up to $20 on January 1)

Rules:
- Don't wear a towel!
- Be respectful!
- Don't be that guy that's jerking when nobody else is interested.
- Be careful!
- Say hi to me!

    Wilshire doesn't really follow the 3 hour limit. They let you stay up to 5 hours most of the times.

    Is there a time limit ar Spa Palace? I've been there once in a hurry to get to a meeting, so I could only stay 1,5 hrs. Don't recall them letting me know about a time limit.

      Spa Palace doesn't seem to have time limits between 8 am and 10 pm. If you stay after 10 pm then there is a $10 surcharge. I have never been given a time limit when I pay cash but I have been told that Groupon people have to leave by 10 pm. Various details on signs at front counter.

      I think Edward is the young Korean guy working there that is the owner/son of the owner.
      He was napping on the padded benches outside the locker room by the doors where you enter from the lobby the last time I was there. Seems to know a lot of the clientele when I see him walking around in his skinny jeans.

    I'm curious about this too. You said "young" so I'm assuming he's NOT the fit maybe middle aged Asian guy that's always there in his gym gear popping in and out of rooms? In my experience he's the chattiest person there and he's often the only person I've found myself conversing with at any length when I used to go. Someone there (that didn't like him at all for whatever reason) told me he was the owner.

    Just FYI, Wilshire most definitely enforces the time limit and will call your locker number over the intercom if you exceed the three hour time limit. I think it depends on who's at the desk but the lady seems to enforce more. They will charge you $5 for every 30 or 60 min you are over.

    Price hike at Wilshire going into effect 1/1/17.

    I believe everything is going up $5 (they had a sheet with the new prices, but I didn't take that close a look).

    Best to buy a book of 10 passes right now while they're cheap (those also go up next year).

    I have to say by late afternoon most of the "hot" guys must've cleared out. There were two attractive white couples but both disappeared (played with one of them).

    The rest of the guys were overweight, if not obese.

    There was one scruffy attractive white guy who was playing with an Asian guy who appeared to have a lot of plastic surgery (think Detox on "Drag Race" -- weird cheeks and jaw). We were all perplexed why he was playing with him. Whatever floats your boat.

      My point is things are getting worse and racists are now newly emboldened to be even MORE openly racist.

      Two friends, both girls, both black told me they've noticed more racist behavior recently and sent me texts to see if I was experiencing anything. One has heard the N word, both have been physically pushed out of the way and treated rudely more than once in public places recently. Who were the perpetrators? White people ONLY. Mainly men.     They're opening a target across the street, with the new "improvements" and the eventual property tax rise, this spas days are numbered.
